About Verde Designs
Floristry is evolving at such speed and I have seen many styles come and go over the years. It is clear that flowers are becoming more as an extension to interior décor adapting to modern trends within the home. Thinking back to the first bouquet I created I have to smile to myself. It was in the days of the more colour and different flowers you included, made the perception of a bigger bouquet. I am so glad this fad only lasted a couple of years. However, the big bright chocolate box style bows still lives on in many florists. I personally was glad to put this tradition of the giant oversized bow to rest. I never looked back and have continued to move forward with modern packaging techniques to compliment designed floral work. Myself, I enjoy the simplicity of a beautiful vase of foliage, grasses and lilies. The timeless fragrance of lilies always reminds me of home and childhood. The old tradition of reading the Sunday newspapers with a cup of tea in a cosy environment is hard to beat.
How I became a florist still is foggy. After leaving school, floristry was never an option with the careers teacher, so I began my career in banking and finance. I remained in the finance industry for several years unaware that there was a job that allowed your personal style and creativity to be admired until my sister asked me for help in the florist she was at, with a wedding. I was thrown in at the deep end and was asked to green up arrangements (which at the time I never knew what that meant, and have constantly being reminded). However to see the arrangements develop into something beautiful from her own design made me realise that she had such a rewarding job. After a quick career change into floristry I am lucky to be still enjoying my work and I am pleased to say, that I can not see myself ever wanting to change my job as the satisfaction from my work is priceless.
Years on and armed with a wealth of experience of working within retail floral work, it soon became apparent that customers favoured my individual style over standard designs. Armed with passion and determination to follow my heart then came my big step to create Verde.
Finding the right location was crucial. I was lucky to find a perfect location on a historic site in the West Midlands, which used to make the Sunbeam cars. This location proved perfect to connect to regional motorways and toll road throughout The Midlands, with the decision helped by my second love, which is for vintage cars so I couldn’t help but name one of my designs “Sunbeam”.
Verde Designs is an exclusive online florist with a true passion for floral art. I have 3 simple ethics:
“Would I be happy to receive it?
Treat people the way I would like to be treated
Knowledge is not power, but something to be shared”
With a very dedicated, capable and experienced team of florists to support me (in which I am always thankful), it is our aim that each individual order is made to our highest standards, presented with Verdes individual packaging and completed with your personal card message to accompany the flowers. The floral range changes to reflect each season to ensure that you continue to receive quality and value with flowers that are “in season”. The ability of my buying volume, ensures that I am able to purchase direct from the Dutch auctions online, to be shipped overnight for next day delivery. This ensures freshness and availability of the floral range.
I hope you enjoy my site as much as I enjoyed creating it.
